A master key unlocks all of them.
From one door, where two locks work on a single key, right up to a multi-site complicated master key system with hundreds of locks.
An example of this is when a student loses a bedroom door key, we can generate a key on the landlords’ request. The student can either collect it, or we can send it directly via the post the same day. This saves time and money having to have the locks changed.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MASTER KEY AND A GRANDMASTER KEY?
- Grand Master Key – This key will open all locks in a suite, frequently over many sites nationally.
- Master Key – This will open, for instance, all locks in one building or city.
- Sub Master Key – This provides the designated individual access to a specific part inside a building, for example, a particular floor.
- Change Key or Servant Key – This key will unlock one lock, for example, a tenant or particular office user.
Master Key Systems give you the flexibility of regulating who can access various buildings, departments and rooms.

What is a Master key suite?
A master key suite allows for one key to fit in one lock for tenants, and the owner has the Grand Master key, which opens all locks. By designing a master key suite, landlords only need to carry one key. They can contact Master Key Suites Direct when they require a new key cut for any one of their tenants..
